Very few people probably know that Chrissy Teigen, model, TV celebrity, wife of John Legend, and the person behind the website Cravings by Chrissy Teigen, used to have a food blog on WordPress. I think that the first time I learned about her was not that she was John Legend’s wife or that she was a model, but that she was a food blogger. I loved reading about the food that she blogged about and the recipes that she shared.
As most people probably know today, Chrissy has since published two recipe books, which I believe to be inspired by her food/recipe blog. I’ve been a fan and I have tried a few of her recipes, some of which I have shared on this blog. In an off-season of the Fandesals Podcast, I have also shared my attempt at her Creamy Chicken and Mushroom Noodles. I share the video of that episode at the end of this post. I also tried her Mac and Cheese recipe (which I shared on this blog). The Mac and Cheese was different from what I’m used to, but it’s not bad either.
Today, Chrissy does not have the WordPress blog anymore, but she does have her website where she shares recipes and sells various products that range from cookware, dinnerware, and lounge clothing (specifically, robes, which is kind of her thing). She also shares videos of her cooking with family and friends on the website. These videos are embedded from her YouTube channel, which you can subscribe to separately. She hasn’t updated the channel in a while though, so there is nothing new as far as videos go.
There is also a section called Tips and Tricks, where she shares cooking tips, meal preps, and gift guides. There is a lot to go through on that page if you’re interested in those kinds of things.
I think it’s interesting that her site has a Rewards page where she offers perks for people who share about her products on social media. The page shares how to do this to qualify for the benefits of spreading the word about Cravings products. The rules seem very simple, but it also seems too good to be true. I’m curious about it but I haven’t tried it yet. I would love to know how it has worked for online creators so far. If there is anyone out there reading this has received rewards from this program, please share your story in the comments section!
Chrissy has come a long way from her food blog on WordPress. She has turned that hobby into a food empire with cookbooks, a line of kitchen and dinnerware, and food products. She has a line of home baking mixes that she is currently promoting on her site. This line includes her Ultimate Banana Bread Mix, Buttermilk Mochi Pancake and Waffle Mix, and Salted White Chocolate Macadamia Cookie Mix.
I think that people do not give her enough credit, I guess because she is a model and she loves to speak her mind in ways that some people do not like, but I think that she has been very smart about the way she took her blog into what it is today. I think that it is very inspiring.
Have any of you ever tried a recipe from Chrissy Teigen? Be sure to check out her website to see what types of recipes you might want to try out! There is a lot to choose from. Plus, being part Asian (Thai), there are also Asian-inspired dishes on her site (and cookbooks) too!
To end this post, let me share the off-season episode of the Fandesals Podcast where I make one of Chrissy’s recipes. It was surprisingly good; I have never tried using egg noodles with a sauce that is usually made for pasta before, but it does work. I want to try making it again soon because I enjoyed it.
