If you have read some of the reviews I've made on this blog, you would know that I am a sucker for made-for-TV movies. I once caught another one on (the now-defunct) DIVA Universal that got my attention for two reasons: (1) it was about a coffee shop and (2) the leading man had the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen.
Coffee Shop is a romantic comedy about a young woman who owns a coffee shop that is in danger of being closed down. Starring Laura Vandervoort, it features a life I’ve dreamed of having: owning a small coffee shop (and ending up with a really nice guy, I have to add that).
As with most romantic comedies, the female lead is torn between her current boyfriend and a guy she just met, with the former being a jerk and the latter being someone who she thought was a jerk but was the right guy for her after all. I think we all know the ending to expect here.
There's something about movies based in small towns, with love stories that just make you believe in fate and love, that always gets to me. That and the fact that this girl is living my dream of running a small coffee shop!
It was a simple but feel-good story. I loved how the people who frequented the coffee shop were there to share how important the place was to them and the memories that they made there. I loved the songs that Laura Vandervoort sang in the movie too. I also cannot write this post without mentioning my crush on Cory M. Grant, who is the male lead in this one. Those eyes, I could stare at them all day!
Cory Grant, from what I’ve read of him, has had appearances on All My Children and Nashville. Coffee Shop is his first lead role. According to a link on his Instagram account, he also has a production vehicle rental business called SoHo Coaches.
I hope I get to see him in another movie or TV show, he's just too good looking to not be out there. Do all the ladies out there agree?
