Consider the implications. We think we know what we want, but we can never really know until we've got it. And sometimes when we have, we discover we never really wanted it in the first place - but then it's too late.

Alexandra Potter's book Be Careful What You Wish For is about exactly that -- knowing what we want and realizing that we never really wanted that in the first place. It is the story of Heather, who suddenly gets everything she wished for (literally) and later finds out that the thing she wanted was not what she expected it to be.
I loved this book because it had the right amount of humor, romance, and moments that made you think and reflect on the main idea of the book. I became a fan of Alexandra Potter because of this one. A friend of mine had given me her books but I never got to reading them until late last year and I really enjoy her work.
If you like someone, why can't you call straight way?? Why can't you be honest and say how you feel?
That was a line I could relate to a lot. In this day and age of social media where we tend to overshare, it is such a wonder why people still don't get around to saying what they REALLY feel. I love that this book asked that question. We say a lot but we don't say what we really want to. It seems when it comes to it, the truth -- our truth -- is the hardest thing to put out there.
I enjoyed the magical element of the book. It made the story different from the romantic comedies and chick-lit books that I've read recently. Sometimes, we all need a little magic!
I was thrilled when Alexandra Potter herself commented on my Instagram when I mentioned that quote from her book. Amazingly, people like her still take the time to connect with her readers. That small comment meant a lot to someone like me who wants to be someone like her.
Meg Cabot, Cecelia Ahern, Emily Giffin, Melissa Dela Cruz, and Alexandra Potter...now their lives are exactly what I wish for. I want to be a writer/novelist. It has been my dream since I was a little girl. One day I hope that I will be able to achieve it.
